What Is An Espresso?

Espresso is just a fancy word for a small shot-sized glass of very strong coffee. Some of the popular types of espresso drinks include cappuccino, cafe latte and cafe mocha. An espresso is made by forcing pressurized hot water through tightly packed, finely ground espresso coffee. The result is a thick, dark brown coffee with a bit of crema (foam like the head on a beer) on top.

Espresso Machine

A simple espresso machine heats up the water in a sealed chamber and uses the pressure from the hot water itself to force the water through the coffee. A major disadvantage of this type of machine is that the pressure depends on the water temperature. The temperature needed to create enough pressure to push the water through the coffee might surpass the ideal brewing temperature, therefore spoiling the taste of the coffee.

Must have features:

  • Hot Water Dispenser

Did you know that you don’t need a kettle around once you have bought a coffee machine? Yes, coffee machines can dispense hot water on demand at the push of a button. This feature really comes in handy when you are making other hot drinks besides coffee.

  • Water Filters

With built-in water filters, you can remove any unpleasant taste of chlorine or iron from your water. This will definitely improve the taste of your coffee. However, you need to maintain the filters well in order to keep them functioning in perfect condition.

  • Bean Grinder

Coffee beans are best ground just before they are brewed for the best aroma and taste. With this feature, you only need to put in the beans and press a button.

  • Strength Controls

Fully automatic strength controls allow you to control just about every detail as to how your coffee is prepared to suit each drinker’s personal taste. For example, you can set individual settings for water temperature, the amount of coffee grounds, coffee strength, and the type of coffee. You can even save your personalized settings for quick selection next time.
