About pulse oximeters
Most of us have an idea what a pulse oximeter is. It is in the name: it gives you your pulse, it gives you your oxygen saturation. It beats the older approach to receiving oxygen saturation that involved actually taking blood from a patient and running tests on it.
The heart beat ox is the small probe (protruding from those large vital signs machines) they put on your finger if you go to the hospital to make sure your oxygen rank and pulse speed are at healthy levels.
Hypoxia is really a family of circumstances characterized by a deficit of oxygen inside your body’s tissues. The hypoxia can include the general body, or a specific area, such as the brain. In all cases, it may be risky even deadly, because without oxygen, the human body can not run.
In extreme cases, Hypoxia can produce a situation where increased levels of carbon monoxide stop oxygen from reaching the cells.
